Ian’s civil litigation practice has brought him before the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Provincial Court of Alberta. However, he also makes a priority of resolving matters outside of the courtroom when possible, believing that clients can often achieve successful outcomes through less costly and less stressful means.
In 2015, Ian completed a Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta, graduating in the top 15% of his class. While in law school he participated in both the Civil and Criminal programs of Student Legal Services and was a Project Leader with Pro Bono Students Canada. He also participated in a number of moots and won the Clinton J Ford Moot Competition.
Before going into law Ian was a professional musician. He completed a Bachelor of Music in viola performance at Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Music in composition at the University of Calgary. He spent several years performing, composing and teaching throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. He is currently principal violist with Edmonton’s Orchestra Borealis and enjoys the occasional opportunity to compose and perform for Snyder & Associates functions.
When he is not working, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife, Barb.
